Students will be exposed to cinema from various countries in order to compare the imagery, plot, symbols, etc. A local filmmaker can be invited to speak to the class about the realities of the industry and to answer students' questions. Students will also analyze Hollywood's portrayal of minorities and how it has (or hasn't) changed over time. More advanced students are encouraged to research the system of film distribution and marketing.
