Propelled by a Motown soundtrack, this animated film features a cartoon character, Bob Dog, in search of a job. A worthwhile exercise during the screening is to pick out the various locales where the action occurs: the street, the TV, in the dream, the TV in the dream, the advertising in the street, the real world in the room. . . The world depicted is offbeat and absurd. Reading the film metaphorically, however, leads to deeper questions about fear of the adult world, the workplace as a space of the Other, one’s body image, one’s family as a last resort, etc.
