This short animated film can be used as an introduction to, or as part of, a larger project on folk tales. Topics to be explored include: ignorance and fear; gender, and the role of women in agriculture; and the power and influence of community over individual actions and freedoms. In terms of form, film students can discuss the effectiveness of different animation techniques, and the use of non-verbal communication techniques in storytelling.
