As they view the film, direct students to note the interplay of climactic elements in the Arctic landscape. Have them refer to each of the senses in their written descriptions and then use these descriptions as the basis for poetry. Have them read and draw inspiration from stories by Inuit writers such as Michael Kusugak and Alootook Ipellie. As an additional writing assignment, have the class author letters to the filmmaker, Ericka Chemko, and include their poems.
