Education

Ages 15 to 17
School subjects
Students will analyze the impacts, on the viewing audience, of the paternalistic attitudes and beliefs voiced in the non-Eskimo written narration versus the skills and ingenuity depicted in the visuals of the Eskimo arts and crafts. Students will consider the importance of these skills for survival, community cohesion and organization versus the meaning and uses of the term “arts and crafts.”
