Rita-Lucy Ohaituk was one of eight high school students in Inukjuak who documented their final year of school in Inuuvunga: I Am Inuk, I Am Alive, a participatory media initiative undertaken by the NFB in 2004. Mentored by professionals from Montreal’s EyeSteelFilm, the young trainee videographers fashioned a vibrant coming-of-age journal, detailing everyday life and exploring a broad range of issues confronting their community, including youth suicide and cultural upheaval.
