A conceptual artist from the Teslin Inland Tlingit First Nation, Doug Smarch Jr. works primarily in sculpture and has exhibited across Canada and around the world. He has a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a graduate degree in Design Media Arts from UCLA. In 2017, he participated in a remarkable reconstruction project, launching a small flotilla of traditional Indigenous watercraft onto the Yukon River as part of the Canada 150 festivities. With the short film Vistas: Ignition, he employs CG animation to evoke an awe-inspiring northern road trip.
