Born in Čazma in 1922, Aleksandar Marks was the oldest (at the age of 50) European member of the creative crew that collaborated on the making of the NFB and Zagreb Film’s omnibus work Man the Polluter, contributing the short Ideal Silence (00:19:48–00:22:22). He designed or animated 30 films between 1955 and 1980, the most notable of which are the eight films he designed for Vatroslav Mimica from 1958 to 1963. Marks also directed nine animated films, including Mrav dobra srca (1966), Ecce Homo (1972) and Pauk (1970).
