Have students write first impressions and questions while viewing, and opt to extend into personal essays or poetry. Group research topics can include: the role of women in Ugandan society; the current situation in Uganda; existence of child soldiers today; child soldier awareness groups. Film students can examine effective documentary strategies for presenting controversial topics, and ask: should documentary contain a bias? Can documentary be neutral? How can documentary help change society?
